- Executive Summary
The Neftaly Future of HR Conference 2026 is a premier continental gathering focused on redefining the role of Human Resources (HR) in shaping Africa’s future. As organisations, governments, and communities transition into a digital and knowledge-based economy, HR stands as a central driver of change, innovation, and inclusion.
The three-day conference, hosted by Neftaly (Southern Africa Youth Project), will unite HR professionals, government policymakers, corporate leaders, educators, youth, and innovators from across Africa and around the world. Together, participants will explore strategies to strengthen the human element within workplaces, ensuring that people remain the foundation of progress in an increasingly automated and globalised world.
Under the theme “Innovating People, Empowering Progress”, the conference will highlight critical topics such as digital transformation, youth employability, ethics and governance, workplace wellness, and social impact. It will also celebrate outstanding HR practices through the Neftaly HR Innovation Awards and launch the Neftaly Future of HR Report 2026 — a landmark publication on HR development in Africa.
The conference aims to establish an ongoing platform for dialogue, collaboration, and knowledge exchange that will help build resilient, inclusive, and future-ready African workplaces.
- Background and Rationale
The world of work is undergoing an unprecedented transformation. Emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, automation, and cloud systems are reshaping traditional employment models and human capital management. These global shifts are creating both opportunities and challenges, especially for African countries where youth unemployment, digital skills gaps, and leadership transitions remain pressing issues.
In this changing environment, Human Resources professionals play a crucial role in bridging the gap between people and technology, ensuring that development remains human-centred. The success of any organisation increasingly depends on its ability to attract, develop, and retain skilled, motivated, and adaptable employees.
Neftaly believes that Africa must actively shape this transition. Through the Future of HR Conference, Neftaly seeks to empower HR professionals and organisations to adopt forward-looking strategies, promote ethical leadership, and integrate diversity and inclusion across sectors.
This initiative directly supports:
The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) — particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities).
The African Union Agenda 2063, which calls for “an integrated, prosperous and peaceful Africa, driven by its own citizens.”
By convening key HR stakeholders, the conference aims to produce actionable insights that strengthen Africa’s capacity for workforce innovation and sustainable human development.
