Good morning, and welcome to Neftaly’s 2018 celebration of WORLD CARING DAY. What an honour it is to stand before you today — not just as a representative of Neftaly, but as someone deeply committed to the values of compassion, collaboration, and social progress.
Today, across communities, cities, and countries, we come together not just to commemorate a date, but to affirm a mindset. WORLD CARING DAY is more than a calendar event. It is a call to action — a day to reflect on what it means to care, to connect, and to contribute meaningfully to one another’s lives.
At Neftaly, we believe that caring is a powerful force — a force that transcends borders, backgrounds, and beliefs. It is caring that fuels the partnerships we build, the youth we empower, the innovations we champion, and the sustainable solutions we drive forward in communities across Africa and beyond.
In 2018, our theme is “Compassion in Action” — a reminder that true caring goes beyond kind words. It is found in the hands that lift others up, in the voices that speak for the voiceless, and in the systems we build to ensure equity and opportunity for all.
As Chief Strategic Partnership Officer, I have the unique privilege of witnessing firsthand the transformative impact of collaboration. Whether we’re working with local governments, international NGOs, or corporate partners — our joint efforts are proof that when we care together, we create real, measurable change.
Let me share just a few highlights from this year alone:
- Over 5,000 young people reached through Neftaly’s education and skills training initiatives;
- More than 300 partnerships formed or strengthened in service of youth development and community upliftment;
- And dozens of new projects launched to promote entrepreneurship, digital inclusion, and civic engagement.
These are not just numbers. These are lives changed — because someone, somewhere, decided to care.
As we celebrate today, let’s remember that the heart of Neftaly is not in our name or in our logo. It’s in the spirit of the people we serve and the partnerships we forge.
So today, I invite each of you — our partners, donors, leaders, and friends — to ask: How can I show I care? How can I bring compassion into action, not just today, but every day?
