1. Opening

  • Opening Prayer: Andrice Macuacua

Facilitator Andrice Macuacua welcomed everyone and introduced the topic of the day: Entrepreneurship.
He explained that entrepreneurship plays an essential role in economic growth, job creation, and innovation, helping learners understand its impact on both community and national development.

3. Understanding Entrepreneurship

Learners shared their own definitions and views:

  • Nonhlanhla Skosana: Entrepreneurship is when someone starts and innovates their own business.
  • Uvile Tabata: It is the process of creating, developing, and managing a new business with the aim of generating profits.
  • Katlego Molepo: A person who doesn’t work for someone else but creates their own business.
  • Neo Mthethwa: An entrepreneur is a risk-taker.
  • Phauwe Molepo: Entrepreneurship is the process of identifying opportunities for people.

Facilitator’s Explanation:
Entrepreneurship is the process of identifying opportunities, organizing resources, and taking risks to create and grow a business.


4. Key Elements of Entrepreneurship

Presented by Facilitator Andrice Macuacua:

  • Innovation: Introducing new ideas, products, or services.
  • Risk-Taking: Willingness to take calculated risks to achieve goals.
  • Value Creation: Producing goods or services that generate value for society.

5. The Role of Entrepreneurs in Economic Development

Facilitator explained that entrepreneurs contribute to economic development by creating jobs, generating income opportunities, and stimulating business growth at both local and national levels.


6. Understanding GDP (Gross Domestic Product)

Primrose Dlamini: Explained GDP as products that are bought outside the country.
Facilitator clarified that GDP is the total value of goods and services produced within a country, which helps measure economic performance.

Examples of entrepreneurship shared by learners:

  • Group Example: Transportation services, such as taking children to and from school.

8. Entrepreneurial Mindset

Facilitator explained that an entrepreneurial mindset is a way of thinking that enables individuals to identify opportunities, overcome challenges, and take initiative toward achieving success.

Key Traits of Successful Entrepreneurs:

  • Creativity & Innovation: Thinking differently to solve problems.
  • Resilience: Bouncing back from challenges.
  • Passion & Commitment: Staying dedicated to one’s goals.
  • Visionary Thinking: Seeing opportunities before others.

  • Adaptability: Adjusting quickly to market changes.

9. Overcoming Fear and Failure

Students learned that failure is part of the entrepreneurial journey.
Key lessons included:

  • Understanding that failure is part of learning.
  • Learning from mistakes and continuously improving.
  • Building supportive networks and seeking mentorship for guidance.

10. Types of Entrepreneurship

Facilitator introduced the following types:

  • Commercial Entrepreneurship: Focuses on generating profit and business growth.
  • Green Entrepreneurship: Promotes environmental protection through eco-friendly products and practices.

  • Sibusiso Maluleke: Chose commercial entrepreneurship because it focuses on generating profit, promoting business growth, and creating community jobs.

11. Identifying Business Opportunities

Students learned that business opportunities arise when a product or service meets a specific market need.

Methods of Identifying Opportunities:

  • Brainstorming: Generating creative solutions.

Community-Based Opportunity Identification:
Learners discussed identifying local needs such as food or transport services and were encouraged to start small by offering community-based solutions.
