    1. Overview

    On 18 July 2023, Neftaly, in partnership with the Gauteng Department of Social Development, successfully delivered advice and referral services to six (6) individuals in Johannesburg. This initiative is part of Neftaly’s commitment to providing accessible social support pathways, enabling vulnerable individuals to connect with relevant services for long-term well-being and empowerment.


    2. Objectives of the Program

    • To provide accurate and timely advice to individuals in need of social support
    • To refer beneficiaries to appropriate government and community services
    • To promote informed decision-making and access to essential resources
    • To strengthen referral networks and cross-sector collaboration

    3. Support Services Delivered

    The session included the following key support areas:

    • Social Grants Advice – guidance on eligibility and application for SASSA grants
    • Employment and Skills Development – referral to training and job placement programmes
    • Substance Abuse and Psychosocial Support – referral to local counselling and rehabilitation centres
    • Gender-Based Violence Support – information and referral to relevant shelters and legal aid
    • Youth and Child Welfare Services – referral to child protection and youth development resources

    4. Participant Engagement

    All 6 participants actively engaged in one-on-one consultations with the Neftaly social support team. Each case was treated with confidentiality and respect, with participants encouraged to ask questions and share their personal circumstances. Referral letters and contact details of relevant service providers were provided.

    • Six individuals received tailored advice and were referred to appropriate social and government services

    1. Overview

    On 11 December 2023, Neftaly, in partnership with the Gauteng Department of Social Development, successfully conducted a focused Advice and Referral session for 3 participants in Diepsloot. This initiative forms part of Neftaly’s commitment to ensuring individuals in vulnerable communities can access accurate information, social support, and referral pathways to relevant services.


    2. Objectives of the Session

    • To provide one-on-one advice tailored to the personal and social challenges of each participant
    • To refer individuals to appropriate government and non-government service providers
    • To educate participants about available social assistance and their rights
    • To strengthen linkages between communities and local social support networks

    3. Content and Services Provided

    The session covered the following:

    • Assessment of Needs – identifying each participant’s primary challenges
    • Social Services Overview – including SASSA, shelter services, and food security assistance
    • Direct Referrals – connecting participants with relevant service providers such as social workers and shelters
    • Information Sharing – distributing printed guides on social grants, legal aid, and health services
    • Emotional Support – providing a safe space for participants to express concerns and receive encouragement

    • All 3 participants were fully engaged in one-on-one advisory sessions
    • Participants raised issues related to unemployment, lack of food, and domestic instability
