1. Background and Purpose of Visit
The visit by YFM representatives was initiated to explore possible collaboration with Neftaly for the upcoming Neftaly Mandela Day Event, scheduled for 18 July 2025. The Mandela Day initiative aims to honour Nelson Mandela’s legacy by dedicating 67 minutes of service to the community—this year’s event will focus on donating clothes, distributing pads drives, and conducting community outreach activities in Diepsloot.
2. Key Discussion Points
2.1. Welcome and Briefing
Upon arrival, YFM representatives were welcomed by Neftaly staff and informed that Mr. Malatjie, the intended contact, was not available. However, they were provided with a comprehensive overview of the Mandela Day event’s goals, activities, and logistical plans.
2.2. Proposed Areas of Collaboration
YFM showed strong interest in collaborating with Neftaly and proposed the following support initiatives:
- Donation of additional clothing and blankets to be distributed on Mandela Day.
- Contribution of extra pads drives to supplement Neftaly’s limited stock (currently approximately 60 units).
- Potential support in media coverage, content capture, and awareness raising for the event.
Their involvement is expected to increase visibility and deepen community impact.
2.3. Introduction to Neftaly Team
YFM representatives were introduced to various Neftaly leaders and operational staff, which allowed for networking and relationship building. Key individuals included:

3. Activities Conducted During the Visit
3.1. Facility Tour
The delegation was given a guided tour of the Neftaly facilities, including:
- Computer labs showcasing digital literacy programs
- Classroom spaces with active student participation
- Skill development areas and multimedia hubs
YFM expressed admiration for the infrastructure and how it supports Neftaly’s mission of youth empowerment.
3.2. Site Inspection for Mandela Day
YFM visitors inspected the proposed event venue, which includes outdoor and indoor spaces suitable for hosting the Mandela Day activities. They found the venue ideal in size, accessibility, and atmosphere. Several photos and videos were taken to aid in promotional material and planning.
4. Outcomes and Agreements
4.1. Commitment to Collaboration
YFM formally committed to supporting the Neftaly Mandela Day Event by:
